Manufacturers of electrical supercars have a vested interest in the future: a greener and more sustainable one. In addition to the challenge for supercars that can accelerate more quickly, manufacturers are working toward a more environmentally friendly future.

Electric cars have now made a serious entry into the world of super sports. In the past several years, a lot of automakers have established electric car brands that compete with one another to see which one can produce the world’s fastest electric car.

As Forbes contributor, James Morris, stated, the “electric supercars are already the fastest-accelerating production vehicles in the world, and it’s likely that they will dominate both top speeds and track lap times in the future. The age of the internal combustion supercar is drawing to a close, and the electric supercar era is now emerging.”

A number of brands like Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, Tesla, Rimac, Bugatti, Volkswagen, and others have launched vehicles that could go head-to-head with exclusive traditional sports cars. Some of them are working on new improved models able to win the speediest electric supercar contest.

Automobili Estrema, another of a new breed of supercar manufacturers, is aiming to take on its competitors. The start-up company based in Modena, Italy, is developing an electric supercar that will rival the latest offerings from Rimac C-2, Lotus Evil, Pininfarina Battista, Lamborghini Terzo Millennio. Their vision is to become the next Italian automobile sports car brand. They created their first model starting from scratch, called Fulminea, which means lightning fast in Italian. The supercar will have over 2,000 bhp and a mind-blowing 200mph sprint of under 10 seconds.

To achieve its double goals of faster and greener acceleration, Automobili Estrema will use AeroCloud’s CFD simulations and our team of experts in aerodynamics. As we speak, the CFD tool is being implemented into their design process toward Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG’s record attempt next summer.

Go faster and consume less with the help of CFD simulations

Aerodynamics are critical for performance in racing. With the help of computational fluid dynamics simulations, we will make the race supercar more efficient in terms of power consumption, and more performing. Indeed, producing less aerodynamic resistance allows the car to go faster without consuming as much power. Fulminea will also develop downforce, that will make the car maintain its speed through turns without having to decelerate too much.

The more aerodynamic the supercar is, the less energy it requires to run at the same speed as a less aerodynamic car. A car that uses less energy requires smaller batteries, which means it can be lighter, which means it will need even smaller batteries. When it comes to breaking the Nurburgring’s lap record, whoever is able to build the car with the smallest resistance and weight, and with the best performance in turns has the best chances to succeed.

We want to help push the technology forward

Electric vehicles are the future because they are better for the environment offering a greener solution to the internal combustion, and as a result, electric hypercars are the next step to push the technology forward. Sure, the technology is not perfect, but it will be. And the truth is, we can’t escape that fact. Not in any meaningful sense. Because the future is already here.

A world with more electric cars and less internal combustion engines aligns with the United Nations directives for a cleaner and more affordable energy. We couldn’t let this opportunity pass by. Helping Automobili Estrema achieving their goals reflects the values we believe in: better performance, and greener future.
